Which items can be put in the microwave?
It is surprising how many types of items can be put in the microwave. But not every kitchen item is microwaveable. Pay attention to the information in your operating instructions!
Normally the following materials/objects are suitable for the microwave:
Glass and ceramic tableware is generally suitable for the microwave.
Objects made of crystal glass or handmade pottery are not suitable.
Plastic dishes, e.g. Tupperware
Not all plastics are suitable for the microwave. For example, you should not put
disposable plastics (used for yoghurt pots, cream cheese and other food products)
Also do not use cracked, old or discoloured plastic containers.
However, plastic boxes that are intended for long-term use, such as Tupperware, can be put in the microwave.
If it is a simple paper plate, it can be put in the microwave. Paper plates that are coated with a thin layer of plastic are not suitable for microwave ovens.
Paper plates or paper bowls must be marked as microwaveable.
